Who we are

Food Train is a registered charity, voluntary organisation and social enterprise providing vital support services to enable older people to live independently at home for as long as possible. 

The Food Train - Our History

Our History

Food Train began in Dumfries in 1995 following a community survey of older people that found many of them struggling with their weekly grocery shopping, we operate in six local authorities and are expanding.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors are responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of the charity. They meet regularly during the year to consider, determine and review Food Train's strategies, risks, finances and policies, and to receive reports from senior managers. They all work for Food Train in a voluntary capacity.  Our Directors are Frances Campbell (Chair), Mahdi Hasan (Vice Chair), Ann Wood, David McKerrow, Dr. Dinesh Verma, Thomas Wostenholme and Sue Robinson.

National Development

It is our vision that all older people throughout Scotland will be able to access innovative and affordable services which allow them to stay in their own homes, within their own communities for as long as possible.  There are many areas within Scotland where food access and home support remains an issue for older people.  Food Train would like to offer its support in those areas and seeks to meet with local representatives.
