The Crerar Hotels Trust donate a massive £9000 to expand the service in Stirling

Great news, Crerar Hotels are supporting Food Train to expand the service in Stirling by donating a massive £9000.  Food Train will use the money to purchase an additional delivery vehicle which will provide shopping help to a further 83 older people who are disadvantaged by age-related frailty, disability or ill health and who are struggling to manage this vital task for themselves.  The Stirling branch already have 157 registered members receiving weekly support from local volunteers, many of whom consider Food Train as a lifeline.  On behalf of older people in the city of Stirling and in the rural communities of Stirlingshire, the staff and volunteers of Food Train would like to say a huge thank you to Crerar Hotels for their support and generosity.

Neil Henderson's Charity Cycle

Neil BikingAnnan volunteer Neil Henderson recently completed a charity cycle in aid of Food Train and Food Train Friends.  On Sunday 19th May Neil set off from his home town in Annan and travelled through Longtown up  through Moffat before climbing the Devil's Beef Tub into the Borders and through Lanarkshire into Biggar where he stopped for lunch.  Neil then cycled down through Johnstonebridge into Gretna and back to Annan via Longtown - a total of 150 miles were completed.  Neil had arranged sponsorship for this event via a guess his time for the official 'Down to Longtown' cycle (a total of 125 miles) which he completed in 9 hours and 33 minutes.  There were 2 sponsors who guessed closest at 9 hours 35 minutes, Susan Dunion won a bottle of champagne and Ann Stevens won the bottle of wine.  Neil raised a wonderful amount of £860 for the charity.  Food Train would like to thank Neil for his hard work and continued commitment to Food Train and Food Train Friends.

Well Done Neil.
