Stirling Customer Mrs Macdonald attended The Tuesday Club at the North Parish Church and was delighted that Liz and Fran from her local Food Train were giving a talk to the group about the Charity's grocery shopping service. Eileen (Mrs Macdonald) took a moment after the talk to tell everyone about what Food Train means to her and said ' It is an amazing service, I couldn't live at home without it. The volunteers are so kindly and helpful. I have been a customer for years and it is a truly wonderful, wonderful service' Mrs Macdonald is pictured below with Fran, Regional Manager for the Stirling Food Train
Our amazing volunteers turned out on Sunday morning to run a car boot stall at Falkirk Stadium to raise funds for Food Train. The weather held good for them and everyone was delighted with the proceeds of more than £250 to help buy shopping boxes and volunteer uniforms. It was a very early start so thanks very much to Alan, Pat, Eleanor and WIllie for volunteering to help Anne-Marie and Fran on the day. Thanks also to our wonderful customers and volunteers for donating their unwanted bric-a-brac for us to sell. This is an annual event for Food Train, so see you all next year! As you can see from the photos, everyone had great fun..we didnt stop laughing all day.
Food Train customers got a surprise visit recently when the Lord Provost delivered their weekly shop! Provost Mike Robbins spent the day alongside other volunteers to make deliveries on one of the hottest days of the summer. He met and chatted with the customers of the Food Train and heard about the challenges they face living at home, whilst he unpacked their shopping and helped to put it away. The Provost was taking part in one of the Charity's VIP Volunteering Days to find out for himself the benefits of the service for older people in the Community.
Food Train staff and volunteers were very proud to be presented with the Volunteer Friendly Award at the Inspiring Volunteers Awards Ceremony 2016. Food Train were the first Charity organisation in Stirling to receive this award in 2013 and delighted in 2016 to have it renewed for another 3 years, showing 'Sustained Excellence'. Thanks to SVE for a wonderful evening and congratulations to all the other award winners.
