Volunteering with Food Train

Our volunteers come from all backgrounds with a huge range of life experiences and are aged from 16 to 75 years old.  They have one thing in common - they all feel empathy for older people who are struggling to live independently at home and want to do something to help.  We are currently building our volunteer shopping teams and also have some limited spaces within our volunteer delivery team.  Food Train hold a Volunteer Friendly Award so you can be sure of a warm welcome and will be given support and guidance to help you learn the ropes.  You'll meet new friends, have fun, keep fit and go home knowing that you have made a real contribution in your own local community.  Call us today.  You can make a difference to an older person who is disadvantaged by age related frailty, disability or ill health.  Contact 01786 450536, complete an online enquiry form on our home age, or eMail us at

What Our Customers Say

We wished a fond farewell to one of our lovely customers in Dunblane recently as she settled into her new residential care home after being supported by Food Train for more than 3 years.  Her son Chris emailed us to say " Thank you so much for your help over the last few years.  Your service has always been efficient, prompt and delivered with care, patience and compassion, and made a big difference to Mum's wellbeing"

Fabulous Fundraising by Stirling Volunteers

Stirling volunteers held a Coffee Morning on Saturday 9th May and raised a fantastic £438 to support our local Food Train.  What an enjoyable day it was.  Thanks to all who was involved, from contributing home baking and tombola prizes and to everyone who helped on the day.  Food Train is only partly funded by a local authority grant from Stirling Council so rely heavily on fundraising efforts to keep our vital service for older people going.

Food Train customer Shirley dropped in to our offices for a visit today with the help of volunteer Kirsty Kennedy.  She was hugely complimentary about our service and our amazing volunteers.  Shirley thinks Kirsty is "wonderful" but also added we can send Alan Johnson anytime as he is "exceptional"  Shirley is a full time carer for her husband and rarely has the opportunity to get out for shopping on her own.  She described our volunteers as "wonderful, helpful, polite, courteous and respectful"

What Our Customers Say

Customer Miss Kippen called to say "Thank goodness we've got them.  I'm so grateful to everyone for everything they do.  They're so cheery and never a grumble from any of them.  I get shopping every week and they empty my box and put some things away in the fridge for me, but then I tell them to leave the rest for me as it gives me something to do.  I'm so pleased I've got them"
