The latest news from the Renfrewshire branch of Food Train.
Our youngest volunteer met our oldest customer on Monday 26th May! Fifth year pupil, 16 year old Dylan Welsh, took a well earned break from revising to help us out - and Mrs Nixon, who is about to turn 102, was delighted to meet such a 'lovely young man'!
Only seven months are launching, Food Train Renfrewshire has just celebrated its 1,000th grocery delivery. That's 1,000 times Food Train has delivered groceries to an older person who may otherwise have had to go without, as well as giving them vital social interaction.
The team at Renfrewshire is absolutely delighted with the progress the service has been making, Regional Manager Marri Welsh saying they're, " all proud faces". The next milestone for Food Train Renfrewshire is reaching 100 customers, we're at 96 at the moment, so not long to go.
Only four months after launching, Food Train Renfrewshire has recently taken delivery of its second delivery van. With over 70 customers, demand is high for our services, so a second van is a welcome addition. We are always on the lookout for more volunteers, particularly for delivery now we have another van. Call Marri, the Regional Manager, on 0141 887 2557 if you'd like to join our fabulous team!
